We are a research oriented group with only a limited number of opportunities for Diploma and Master students. We expect good grades, commitment and an interest in scientific thinking. Preference is given to such candidates who are considering a scientific career.
Prospective Diploma and Master candidates should express their interest as early as possible. As a rule, we first invite students to do a small project with us before they are invited to develop a thesis project. We recommend participation in our journal club before students embark on a project.
We expect prospective candidates to have taken classes in animal communication, animal cognition, general animal behaviour, primate behavioural ecology and/or neuroscience (or equivalents). We give priority to students from Goettingen; however, students from abroad with a similar track record are also welcome.
Generally, prospective PhD students need to arrange their own funding (i.e. obtain grants). We encourage PhD students to develop their own projects in accordance with the group's research program. Occasionally, positions will be advertised (check News & Events).
Prospective Diploma/Masters and PhD students should send a letter of motivation with information about classes taken and grades obtained to Nadine Ellrott (nellrott (the at) dpz (the dot) eu).
