Habitat characteristics influence sound transmission and hence the quality of recordings obtained under different conditions. To examine the reliability of acoustic variables obtained under such different conditions, we broadcast sounds in a range of different habitats, re-record them and analyse modifications of various aspects like the frequency composition or the energy distribution.
